The Smartscope helps users identify noisy power and show how much of an effect applying a power filter will have on the circuit.
It works by Calibrating a sample of the electrical power coming from
a power outlet. It then measures the unwanted electrical noise and
then when a filtered power board is connected to the sample it shows
how effective the power filter has been in removing the unwanted noise.
The result is displayed as a percentage of the noise removed.
The Smartscope is over 30 times more accurate than other similar
devices it has been compared to.
Simply plug the Smartscope directly into an unfiltered power outlet. The unit will automatically read the noise level and gives you an idea of how bad your power is without filtering.
Once the Smartscope has calibrated, unplug the unit and then plug it into the power board to test within 30 seconds to take a new reading.
The Smartscope will then compare the new reading to the unfiltered reading and tell you the percentage improvement the board has made.
To test another power board without recalibrating, simply unplug the unit from the first power board and plug into a second power board within 30 seconds. To clear the calibration of the unit, let it sit for 1 minute unpowered.
Please note that readings may vary from outlet to outlet depending on time
of day and internal wiring of the circuit.
